Chicago is commonly known as Chi-Town or the “Windy City” by some but what is indelible about this state is that it boasts of having some of the finest architecture that you would ever see gracing a skyline. You would be making an exceptional choice to move to Chicago, Illinois, albeit the brutal winter weather, Chicago is a place filled with several museums, lots of place for you to shop and restaurants which serve a variety of meals from around the world. But even all the expensive restaurant foods here cannot compare to a cheap and satisfying meal that one can get here: an authentic Chicago hotdog.
There is something about Chicago’s hotdogs that draw people to this city from all across the nation. And if you have never tried one then you are truly missing out. Food aside, Chicago is also brimming with great nature attractions like the beautiful lakes and gorgeous parks that they have. It’s clear to see that you would never spend a dull moment of your life when living in Chicago. When it comes to homes you have a variety of dwelling styles that you can live in. The Chicago skyline is scattered with high-rise apartments that one can buy or rent. At these apartments one can except to enjoy a lap of luxury as the amenities there including a pool, stores and depending on which high-rise you are looking at you may also have access to a gym.
The rent at these places is affordable especially since jobs are easy to find and keep in this state. Also, if you do not drive or own a car you would never have to worry about transportation because the buses and trains stations are all around you for easy commute. There are also condos in Chicago and some of the best of them are in the more affluent neighborhoods which are within walking distance from restaurant and bars as well as shopping malls. If you move to the apartments closer to the downtown Chicago, expect to pay a much larger rent that you would if you lived in the suburbs. You can pay anything from $1,000 in rent and upwards in a downtown Chicago apartment and this price does not include utilities. If you’re planning to hire movers in Chicago, keep in mind that some of the downtown apartments are without alleys so it makes it difficult for movers to park and offload your items, especially if they are using a large moving truck.
And even if there is a small alleyway, movers are prohibited from using their larger moving trucks since it could block those going in and going out. One way in which you can get around this is by contacting the Alderman in your area that would provide you with no parking signs that you can put up to temporarily block the street closer to your building. It is recommended that you put up these signs some 48 hours prior to your moving date.
Of course if you are looking to raise a family in a home where the kids can have ample space to run around in the backyard, then you should consider moving into a house. There are flat houses as well as there are simplexes.
